Revisiting the Cast of "The Towering Inferno"

They just don't make good 1970's moustaches like they used to.

Or at least that's what I thought until my Christmas Day visit to the firehouse:

On a positive note, my boys also received first-hand lessons on how to axe annoying Clifford dolls:

Ho ho ho!

  1. LOL! You must tell us who wins the competition! By the picture, it looked like it could be tough to decide.......

It is hard when one has to work the holiday; I think you have the best attitude about it; go with the flow so to speak!

  2. What is the prize being offered? Are there different categories of mustaches--handlebars, etc.? I think you should use your creativity to name and prize all their mustaches.

Hubby has a hard time managing to shave every day and because he is in stage one of Alzheimer's and still, I hope, able to be trained, it was time for the electric shaver--much safer than the razor as his disease progresses. And so it was that hubby got this Norelco shaver from me for Christmas.

Who better to train him than a grandson who is also beginning to shave! I offered the teenager money to work with his grandpa for several days and he decided to accept the $20 job, with no other jobs on the horizon.

Then the electricity went out for most of Dec. 26th when the training was to begin! There are now only two days left before we fly home Saturday. Very soon I may have that full beard on my hubby's face.

    1. Sorry the shaving thing has turned into a debacle - but I've always thought men looked good with beard, no? You've got a brave (and easily bought grandson). I'd be TERRIFIED to shave another person. Happy holidays!

  7. Know what my favorite thing to do is? Go to a blog and be told that the REALLY funny post is on another site.

Sigh... The things I do for a giggle.

    1. I live to annoy you, Homeschool.

Fine, here's a tip - EVERY Wednesday will be a link to my Chicago Parent blog, so no need to stop here & just go directly to http://www.chicagoparent.com/community/failing-with-gusto.

      You're welcome.

  8. That's awesome! My 4yo was recently looking at pictures and we came across one that had him with a family friend in it (who had a mustache). Henry then asked if that man was his grandpa. Turns out Henry thinks that all men with mustaches are grandpas. Looks like there's a whole firehouse of grandpas in Chicago now!
