I bought this pumpkin pie "for the kids."
My kids don't actually like pumpkin pie.
I, on the other hand, LOVE pumpkin pie.
I tried really hard to not eat the whole thing in one day:
This picture was taken 15 minutes before "the end of the day."
I won't tell you how this shameful tale ended.
Moral of the story: No more pumpkin pie for the kids.
My husband's birthday was Friday. My son and I bought him a chocolate birthday cake (because we love chocolate). There is one small sliver left and my husband had not had a piece yet!
ReplyDeleteTotally get this post!!!
You shared your husband's cake with your son?? See, now right there is where we'd differ.
Delete(:
Mmmm, I love pumpkin pie! It makes a delicious breakfast, snack and dessert.
ReplyDeleteThat was pretty much my menu for the day!
DeleteYum! My kids DO like pumpkin pie and our family arm wrestles over seconds so at least you don't have to fight them off! :-)
ReplyDeleteEven my husband doesn't like pumpkin pie! I need some arm wrestling to keep me away from the stuff!
DeleteI like pumpkin pie too, but mostly as a base to hold all of the whipped cream.
ReplyDeleteI was too embarassed to mention the entire can of whipped cream. But trust me. There was whipped cream.
DeleteIn your defense, it does look like a really really small pie dish, almost miniature. Yeah, that's it.
ReplyDeletebest,
MOV
I knew I could count on you for some fine rationalization, MOV!
DeleteI see how that last slice was mocking you...you had no choice but to "get rid of it". Pumpkin is an excellent source of fiber, and eggs are good for protein, and.....maybe this is less convincing coming from the gal who is over celebrating national cookie month?
ReplyDeleteI like your logic, cookie-girl!
DeleteWe're having Isabelle's birthday party on Saturday. Foolishly, I bought the "party size" bag of M&Ms over the weekend. Needless to say, I already need to buy a new bag.
ReplyDeleteHA! Which is exactly the reason I haven't bought our Halloween candy yet!
DeleteI wish I had even the slightest bit of self control. But instead...nothing.
LOL, I had to laugh about this. I've been known to buy something that son likes, like a box of Ritz crackers, and then realize I have to keep buying boxes week after week because somehow there are never crackers when he might want them. I too get this post!
ReplyDeletebetty
Thanks, Betty! I'm suddenly not feeling so ashamed and alone!
Deletemy hubs hate pumpkin anything so I am not going to go without when I love it but when my sons isn't home to help eat it I am like you left to eat it all before it might go bad so good for you on not being wasteful!! ~Janice~
ReplyDeleteThanks, Janice! Leave it to you to find the sin that I am avoiding by eating the pie! I'm practically a saint! Actually, I think they did make me a saint this week, see:

I looooove Pumpkin Pie too! I can fully understand and even support your eating the whole thing Marianne.
ReplyDeleteWhat the Hell's a venial sin?
Gosh, Julie. I'm a bad Catholic remember? I think there are big sins and little sins, and don't ask me which is which. I think not knowing is even a sin.
DeleteI'd better go pray now.
I don't think I've ever had pumpkin pie befor, it's not something we have in Australia. But I have had pumpkin scones and they're delicious!
ReplyDeleteNO PUMPKIN PIE?????
DeleteI used to dream about moving to Australia, but I think you just changed my mind.
Holy moses. That's crazy!
What does venial mean? ;) Oh, and my butt and thighs thank you for this timely PSA.
ReplyDeleteHappy to help! Venial is either a really bad sin or a forgiveable sin. I'd better ask my 8-year-old. He's a better Catholic than I am.
DeletePumpkin pie is impossible to resist. I feel guilty when I eat all of something, but then I think of all of the things I never even get a bite of...it's only fair that we get to have our pie and eat it too, right?
ReplyDeleteIt's heaven on earth, one of the few things I prefer over Nutella. One teeny weeny pie won't kill me, right? Heck, knowing my body, it'll probably result in even LOWER blood pressure and triglycerides!
DeleteI love how you bought the pumpkin pie 'for the kids' even though they aren't pumpkin pie fans. Sounds like something I would totally do. :)
ReplyDeletePrincess Nagger and I both love pumpkin pie - I think she trumps me on the love, though, since she opted for a pumpkin pie instead of a birthday cake on her actual birthday last year. She did get a cake during her party, but on her birthday it was pumpkin pie. Though I must admit, I think she maybe got two slices. I think I may have gobbled up the rest. My memory is a little foggy from a year ago. ;)
Andrea mentioned you a couple of times in her RTT post today, so I was compelled to come check you out - glad I did. I'm now happily following you! ;)

Your daughter sounds like a kid after my own heart! Thank you for following (that Andrea does have good taste). I'm now a FB follower back as I haven't yet joined Google +. Moms who live in a slight state of denial are totally my favorite!
DeleteMakes me feel a tad bit better since I downed two bags of Reese's peanut butter cups in this week. I think I pretty much glommed one bag in a sitting. And it tasted sooooo good!!!
ReplyDeletemmmm....peanut butter cups.....do they deliver???
