Marianne: (Walking into the house after a weekend away) So the strike is still on? No school tomorrow?
Joe: Yeah. Apparently, CPS changed the language to the agreed-upon contract without informing the teacher's union.
Marianne: Crap.
Daniel: (Astonished) They CHANGED the language? To like what? French?
Dang, sorry to hear this! I had heard on the news that it probably would be over by Monday; I guess not........
ReplyDeletehang in there!!!
betty
Thanks, Betty.
DeleteI guess in the long run people wiLL just have to run longer.
ReplyDeleteYou kill me, esb.
DeleteMan, I hope it gets resolved quickly! At least Daniel can provide some comedic relief.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly why I had him. Well, that and the tax deduction.
DeleteI thought it was over, too. I'm sure the kids are loving it.
ReplyDeleteThem? Yes. Me? Not so much. (:
DeleteBoo! We're only on work-to-rule here. The teachers got legislated to work... which is great for those of us who need those few hours of sanity during the day, but is still pretty shitty for those in the process. Isn't it kind of flattering to be declared an essential service though? No? oh. well.
ReplyDeleteI want to be an essential service! Or at the very least, paid.
Deletelol on the language boo hoo on them still striking :]
ReplyDeleteBoo is right - but it's OVER!
DeleteHAHAHAHA! I'm so sorry the strike is still dragging on. It must be so aggravating for the families in Chicago. Funny about the hard lemonade too. :-) You have to find some humor in these things. Hope it all gets settled soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mare!
DeleteSooooo, what kinds of things are the kids learning in the absence of school. I have NO doubts that it is good stuff!
ReplyDeleteOh, Andrea. You know I can't print all the swell new words my kids have learned this week, right?
