It's official. The 3rd largest school district in the country has gone on strike.
Word came down 10:00 pm Sunday.
I do not understand all the issues or points of contention.
I do understand that this is going to be one giant cluster-f*k with "temps" overseeing kids with special needs, allergies, and other issues at a host of babysitting facilities around the city.
I want to cry.
But instead, I pour myself a giant glass of red wine and tinker around with my vintage Little People:
Happy place. I need to go to my happy place.
Have I mentioned what a long summer it's been?
I want to cry too. I know you don't like playdates, but I might have to bring everyone over tomorrow so I may help you finish that wine and play with those Little People too!
ReplyDeleteSounds good to me!
DeleteI am so sorry......when I lived in Montana, we had a teacher strike for 18 days. It was awful (and cost me a new garage door, kids playing during the strike and broke it). Worse thing was making up those 18 days. In an effort not to extend the school year, we made up those 18 days with Saturday school for several weekends, lost all the holidays for the rest of the year and lost spring break that year. Very long time; all were so tired by the time summer rolled around. Awful time. May it be a quick strike and kids and teachers back where they belong, in the classroom learning.

Holy cow, that is awful. I can't even begin to consider Saturday school sessions. Ugh. And having to buy a new garage door would make me sick. Here's hoping for a 1-day strike. To be continued....
DeleteIt is never good to have a strike or to have to strike, sending good vibes for it to be over quickly and if not can you use gift cards to purchase wine??? LOL
ReplyDeleteDo they offer straight IV's to get the wine into your system ASAP? Thanks for reading!
DeleteDamn Mar.

We would have stayed longer at Jack's party had I known! Sorry! ):
DeleteOh, I am so sorry. I hope it all gets sorted soon. Your vintage Little People are fantastic, though!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lou. My Little People DO make me happy. (:
DeleteI saw that story on the news and thought of you. Hope it's over quick!
ReplyDelete(I also saw a preview for that new firefighter show with Jesse Spencer in it. Are you going to watch it? Maybe while your hubby is at the station?)
Thanks, Jewels...here's hoping!
DeleteI would watch Jesse Spencer make toast for an hour. I'm 100% in on the new show!
Oooof. Not fun for you. Hope it's over quick.
ReplyDeleteHeya! Lillian sure does have good taste. ; ) I couldn't agree more about this strike. I heard about it on NPR and was left wondering why now? why not over the summer?? The kids are suffering. Geez people!!
ReplyDeleteI saw that in the papers and on the news and I feel for every parent there now trying to figure out what to do with their kids in this situation. What a mess! It's the kids who get the short end of the stick on this one.
ReplyDeleteI love your little people scene. :-) Hope everything gets decided ASAP for the best interest of the kids. Hang in there!
Seems odd to strike at the beginning of the school year. Poor kids! I think I'd need more than wine if this happened at my kids' school.
ReplyDeleteLove the vintage little people, by the way!
