The Tennis Lesson

My friend thought it would be fun for us to take tennis lessons.

Guess how that went down?

  1. This was a great read. I am laughing so hard! Your experience reminded me of when I took tennis lessons one summer when I was a high school student. The first half of the summer was the beginner level and the second half was advanced. I had to repeat the beginner level and never made it to advanced...haha! I haven't really played tennis since.

    1. You would have been my perfect tennis partner! I fear I'll be in the beginner group for another 2-3 years.

  2. LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the article. And when I type 'LOL' on this one, you can truly imagine me at my laptop with the hugest grin, chuckling and laughing. This was a great funny read to start my day.
My husband and I bought rackets from a garage sale years ago. Swearing we were going to start playing tennis together. (neither one of us are tennis players) We have yet to do it...........Maybe you have inspired me. I'll let ya know. ;)

    1. Thanks, JR!! If you're going to use those old rackets, there are apparently replacement grips that slide right over the old, rotting ones. Me? I prefer to leave a mess wherever I go. Let me know how it goes (new blog material?).

  3. OK, am ready to head over, but have to say that the head on that racket looks way too small for serious business. I could barely hit a fly with it!!!

    1. That would be my amazing photography skills at work. Impressive, right? When are you coming to Chi-Town to host lessons, master tennis player?

  4. hang in there Marianne....we're all behind you...and I mean..safely behind you, lol. No really, at least you're trying. I didn't have a good day running today and with a month to go til the marathon, I keep trying to tell my shaped and chiseled bod that I'm not 55 yrs. old but it laughs at me. And then I have friends who laugh at me and my goal, telling me what a great lunch they had as I'm chowing down on hard boiled eggs and turkey lunch meat. Maybe people like us should start a walking club....but in my case, I'll leave the chewing gum at home for obvious reasons.

    1. I still can't believe you're really doing the marathon! I bow before you. Can you also re-post your new blog link? Last time I checked, there wasn't a spot to subscribe and now I've lost the link!! Bad Marianne.

p.s. I kind of hope for your sake that the Teacher's Strike happens. The beach sounds good right about now. :)

  8. Sounds like you had the same experiences at high school tennis that I did. At least I know better than to try again. (have fun)

  9. Betty White is kinda spry for an octogenarian. Next time, pictorial evidence please...of you in your tennis gear, not Betty white.

As always Marianne, I always love reading your articles. :D

Out of pure shame, I did finally but a tennis skirt/skort.

      Thanks, Lily!
