Hahaha...flatlined insect. Awesome. Love penguins too. Turtles are awfully cute as well. Might have to make room for a couple of those next time the Ark sets sail...
Love this column and the last one in Chicago's Parent.
The "Bed Bugs" title made me think of an unusual beggar lady who accosted me in the parking lot of the hospital that my husband was getting released from on Monday. She needed money to buy bug spray for bed bugs! I mean these beggars are not just kids requesting a puppy dog, but grown women! I have to stop being so nice, because I gave her ten dollars. Shame on me!
Oh, Carol. You got to stop falling for the old bed bug routine. AND the one about "my wallet got stolen and I just need to get home." Visit me in Chicago for a week. I'll go through this all with you! ;)
She was my first Plant City beggar in the 13 years I have lived here, but had lots of them when I lived in the Miami area that I wrote about in my book.
Looking forward your writing about Chicago beggars, and not just Joey's begging for a real pet. But I suspect you will give in. We have a Maltese dog and they don't shed hair and are wonderful.

I forgot turtles! Okay, I promise to save a couple of those, too. Thanks, LittleMyoo!

You have me pondering the screwdriver through the eye episode!!! Yikes! Sweet Joey...this is priceless.
ReplyDeleteI still haven't recovered from that one. Danny, by the way, is over it.
