Questionable Mother From Birth?

In the old Nature vs. Nurture debate, I purport that my mothering style was established early.  Full story in today's Chicago Parent.

Some of these girls are 30 now.  Holy crap I'm old.

  1. Too funny! My son and my daughter couldn't be MORE different from each other. And I'm not talking about the 14 inches of height difference or even their chromosomes. They were born one year and one day apart and raised in the same environment, yet they might as well have been raised on separate planets.

    1. How does this happen??? Baffles me. Not that a little variation can't be interesting sometimes, but it really messes with my parenting playbook!

  2. You sound so erudite even when you are humorous. "Lackadaisical" is a great word. I love your vocabulary. I picked up "shanghaied" from your last post; although I knew what it meant it wasn't in my working vocabulary and now it is. Thanks.

My two cents. I think that you and your friend are both right. It is BOTH nature and nurture. I will be substituting for almost two weeks now in a special education class. These students need to be nurtured, whereas your three sons sound bright enough to learn on their own with parent supervision.

    1. Thank you, Carol! I really admire all the nurture you provide your students. I fear I'd be leaving them to their own devices. Reason #408 why I'm not in education...

  3. Wait, did someone say "Shanghaied"? Because I say "Veniced" all the time, and by "Veniced" I mean that my bathroom flooded. I also say "Alaskad" and that translates to that The Husband left the windows open in the dead of winter and gave us all frostbite.

I never knew other people used cities as verbs!!! I am so Canadianed about that!

  4. Snickers? Did you keep a hidden stash? Yum! By the way, I bought some Nutella the other day and it made me think of you! I shouldn't mention it though because now I want to go downstairs and eat some more. I think I WILL! Ha!
