Notice anything different about the school clothes this year?
It took some doing, but the Walsh Family has gone Catholic school.
And Marianne is taking bets on how quickly she'll be excommunicated.
Full story HERE in today's Chicago Parent.
The uniforms are adorable. Our PS kid has to wear a uniform but our catholic preschool kid doesn't. Somehow I find this weird. Congrats on finding your educational home, and good luck on this new adventure of trying not to get excommunicated.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mama Melch! Talk about irony. Isn't the reason you SEND your kids to Catholic school the uniforms??
DeleteOh God! Please be sure to send a pic of the morning when all of the boys have the wrong sized matching clothes on!
ReplyDeleteBite your tongue! ;)
DeleteIt's so wonderful to feel good about where your kids go to school every day. :) Although we don't have a dress code and I think the children are still boiling alive this week!
ReplyDeleteWe've got another hot one this week, Danelle - kiddies are all out of uniform again!
DeleteSTILL no open-toed shoes?? Oh wait...you have boys and they don't have to show off their nail polish anyway. I went to Catholic school and we learned to diagram sentences like nobody's business. I actually loved that part. None of my public-school friends had ever even heard of diagramming sentences. And I'm sure they've enjoyed life less because of it.
ReplyDeleteBut now your boys will definitely be scarred for life.
Just kidding.
BTW, did you realize you're a no-reply blogger? (When you comment on a blog, we can't respond by e-mail.) Maybe you knew that, but if you didn't I thought I'd go ahead and point that out. Publicly. :P

Diagramming sentences is why I get out of bed in the morning, Andi. And what's "no-reply" mean? Technology confuses me.
DeleteWhen you reply to a comment on your blog, does your comment get delivered to your e-mail inbox? (I'm assuming so.) Try hitting "reply" to your e-mail comment, then look at the address that shows up (where you would be replying to). I'm guessing it appears as "no-reply blogger." It has something to do with Google+. I've never had to fix mine, but this looks like a good tutorial. Unless you just don't want people to be able to respond to you by e-mail. :)

our 3 kids all started out in public schools and all ended up in Catholic schools. It actually brought me back to the church too. It was a good investment for us. I WANT my kids to know that life is about learning, but ALSO about service and contributing. Those aren't requirements in the public schools, and we were so tired, we missed a lot of opportunities that the church forced on us. It was good.
ReplyDeleteYou pretty much summed up our reasoning as well, Mare. We are still feeling so good about our decision, glad to hear things worked out for you guys, too!
DeleteThat's when you tell the kids that if they wear their uniforms to school on the hot days, it will shave at least 5 years off time spent in Purgatory for each hot day!
ReplyDeleteLove that & stealing it!
DeleteMy Dad was an Elementary School Principal. When growing up, I remember hearing that he sometimes had to spank a child. Guess that went away along with the ruler. hahahaha...
ReplyDeleteYour boys are so dang cute!
I'm not necessarily opposed to the occasional ruler - especially when these knuckleheads tower over me.
DeleteAnd thank you - I think they're cute, too!
You don't have to worry about what to dress them in anymore.
ReplyDeleteAnother "hot week" of no-uniforms! It's killing me!
DeleteYour boys have that adorable Catholic school look. Hope their mom doesn't break any dress code or speech code on campus or in CHICAGO PARENT for all the world to see or read about. Waiting with bated breath to read the humor or the horror.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Joe for winning this round.
Thanks, Carol. I'm going to try to be good. Stop laughing.
DeleteWe pay an arm and a leg for the preschool that we go to at a local Congregational Church (we are Catholic) but we do it because we love it there and it feels like home for us. I'm glad you found your happy place school even if it is at a Catholic church (gasp!).
ReplyDeleteI know, right? So far, this has been the best decision we've ever made. But we're only in Week #2. Keep your fingers crossed!
