A Bill Cosby New Year

The shift in defining New Year's Eve as a day of drunken revelry to one involving Target discount shopping has been gradual.

Yet here we are.

I am not afraid to admit that I prefer 2013 life over all the drama and mayhem of the stiletto-wearing parties I attended at the end of last century.

I can't believe I'm able to use "the end of last century" in describing my life.

But now?

This is happiness:

Everything here was 70% off.  It was like $5.00 total out the door.  Warning: keep a close eye on your cart.  People are pilfering.

In case you're confused by my admission, I thought I'd perhaps elaborate by sharing the beauty of my new Huxtable sweater ornament collection:

I had this vest.  In 1987.

And I think I got this one for my dad in 1988.

The boy I loved in 3rd grade had this sweater.  He works in musical theatre now.

May all your days be filled with low-drama and fabulous sweaters.

Happy New Year!

  2. Oh, good buys! I still have lots of wrap left over, but I could definitely use more gift bags. I should scoot over to Target this afternoon :)

And I really love those ornaments...so cute.

    Happy New Year!

    1. I've been hearing that not all the Targets are doing 70% off yet. I'm just lucky I guess! Be safe. And watch your cart.

  3. I got that same exact gift bag on sale only mine was 50% off. Sonofa.....
    I don't miss the parties.
I DO miss being childless on new years day.
I spent the whole day breaking up fights between the kids.
I would rather be nursing a major hangover over some Ihop.
And I LOVE those sweater ornaments.
And I HAD all of those sweaters back in tha day.
Hey, I worked at Kohl's and the employee discount was stellar.

And what will I do for you?

Did I ever mention I used to work at Target?

      Happy New Year, Kari!

  4. EEEK! I was at Target yesterday, but had the children with me, so I could not perform to the best of my abilities, but did snag some 50% off m&ms. We apparently collect candy now based on how much I see around here!

      Candy.

You needn't ever see my tush, Andrea. The holidays are firmly stuck to it. As is the entire state of Nebraska.

I applaud your deal-finding! You know it makes me happy.

    1. Hope you made it through ok! I don't think we have Dillard's around here. Otherwise, I would have been throwing elbows right with you.

Thanks & happy New Year to you!

    1. I've gotten to the point where I have more ornaments than tree.

      It's kind of embarassing.

      Happy New Year to you!

  7. I could never wear high heels; so glad I am not young any more with how high the heels are these days; I'd surely trip and fall if I did wear them and it wouldn't be a pretty sight indeed :) I too like the quieter New Year Eve's; and shopping at Target with bargains like that is a great one in my eyes!

May the year ahead be just as great!
