Can I Look Now?

I am so going to miss all the ads, political Facebook posts, robocalls, mailings, t-shirts, faux school elections, hysterical rhetoric, negative campaigning and a firmly divided nation.

And if you believe that, I've got a wonderful bridge I'd love for you to take a look it.

What I will actually miss is the extra week of work for Joe courtesy of Election Day set-up at McCormick Place:

The paycheck will buy me a whole lot of Red Bull and Cocoa Puffs.  Joe kept calling me throughout the afternoon yesterday to see if I was watching CNN and marveling at all his hard work and glorious production preparation.

He was careful to whisper, though.  I think the Secret Service may have been watching him.

And my response was truthful:

Nope.  I'm doing laundry.

But thanks for keeping me in my happy, Nutella-fed lifestyle, honey.

Anyway, congratulations to Barack Obama and best wishes to Mitt Romney.  At the end of all this insanity, I believe both men truly want the best for America, they just disagree on the approach.

And now?

Can we all get back to normal life and start posting pictures of our pets and kids on Facebook again?

For my Kumbaya moment (sort of), please click here for  today's article in Chicago Parent.

  1. Great article, Marianne! I had always heard that Chicago was a scary city - - wait, maybe that's Detroit! Anyway, sounds like you live in a great community!

  2. I want to live in the 19th precinct (until winter that is and then I'm moving west) But it does sound like a wonderful community and it is neat that people get out and vote in the droves then do and have the passion about politics! I'm looking forward to seeing what the next four years brings; I definitely hope it is better than the last four we went through.

  5. I hope people start to calm down. If my Facebook feed is any indication it's going to take a while for the talk of politics to quiet down.

I love the cover of your book. I am heading over to like your Facebook page now.

  6. I deactivated my Facebook on Monday. It got to be sooooooooooo ANNOYING!!! I just want to see pictures of my friends holding a beer, smiling, and talking about their BBQ's, weekends, and kids. Heck I would even take their Farmville posts. Yeah, I am going to stay deactivated for a bit.
Although, I just tried to 'LIKE' your book fan page, and realized I can't! I may have to reactivate my account. Soo excited for you both!

    1. Just reactivate it for a minute. Then deactivate. You'll be all stealth-like.

FB has killed me this election season. It was like visiting a very dysfunctional family at Christmas.
