Bad Idea

I suffered a complete lapse in judgement last week.  Can you guess what I volunteered to do?

Hint:

Damn kids.  Always running.

Just kill me now.

Full story HERE in today's Chicago Parent.

  1. I'm thinking you're probably an angel in disguise.

    1. You are so sweet. I'm printing that out for my kids and I'll let you know their reaction (possible snorting and choking on milk).

  2. I kinda get it. I volunteered to help set up a banquet tonight at church. Guess what? No one else volunteered.

    1. I'm finding that there are a lot of Type A moms who permanently scar the rest of us from volunteering. You do get a cyber-high-five from me - nicely done!

  3. Haha I also chaperoned a kindergarten trip to the zoo. Just awesome.

    1. "Awesome" is one way to describe it! Ha! You're a brave mom, Kat Biggie.

  4. Hahaha! Isn't using your pointing finger, poking rather than petting? Which kinda defeats the whole purpose of a petting zoo. Hilarious as always. :)

    1. I knew you'd catch that. Animals seem ripe for poking, no? Yeah. I'm so not an animal person.

  5. As I was waiting to pick up Kee from school today, someone asked me if I was going to be going on the kindergarten zoo trip. I snorted, then choked, then wheezed "good god, no!" while giggling hysterically.

That about sums it up for me and field trips. You're a far better woman than I, my friend!

    1. I don't know about that, Skwishee. It was a moment of weakness. You make awesome dolls and quilts for chrissakes! And can you videotape your snorting? I LOVE the old snorting laugh. It's my favorite.

    1. I can't actually remembering checking the volunteer box on the form. I may have been drunk. ;)

  8. I just had a flashback nightmare! Thank God my kids are grown.
    Pointing finger weirdness was bizarre.
And no...your kids will not remember the horrors of which you speak.

  9. Brace yourself...these are the good years. You still have control over them!

  10. Nooooooooo...only volunteer for "sitting" field trips, not things that are or can turn into a zoo!

  11. So it's true what they say about working with animals and children? The one important thing I've learned about field trips (besides not to volunteer for anything with a hay ride) is to never, EVER volunteer for anything that involves riding a school bus.

  12. Coming your way from Kirby's blog! You are hilarious! Glad to read a blogger from my hometown. (Okay, Plainfield really, but everyone just says "Chicago".) I volunteered to chaperone a 3 day, 8th grade history field trip in Montana that involved an Amtraks and a list of desireable homemade snacks that my son graciously collected from all the 8th grade boys. Don't do that...ever. Stick to getting it over with while your kids are young and then get over it.

    1. Plainfield? Close enough!

I'm writing down this advice on a Post-It (where I put ALL important info).

Glad you popped in & thanks for commenting!!
