Sledding is Way Funner Than it Used to Be

It only took a few years of begging, but Joe somehow convinced me to give sledding another shot.

Full story here in Chicago Parent.

I think I broke the sound barrier on this trip.

  1. Go ice skating. It's fun. I promise.

I miss sledding! We don't usually get enough snow to actually sled. The next best thing is a visit to White Sands, New Mexico where the sand looks like snow and you can (sort of) sled down it. The best part is it doesn't even have to be cold!

    1. Now THAT is my idea of sledding! Sorry, no-can-do on the skating. I seriously have disproportionately narrow ankles for my size. Think 6-year old ankles. I'm a disaster on the ice.

  2. Soo much fun! With all that snow, how could you NOT get back into sledding? :-)

    1. Sorry, Tina. Joe has been waiting a couple of years for this kind of sledding weather. I'm glad he finally got it - hope some magic snow somehow finds you!

  4. YAY Marianne! I'm with you on the anti cold thing. But I do love a good sledding trip. It does beat Ice Skating, and falling down on hard ice.

Your smile in the pic says it all. Fun Day!

    1. The pic was from yesterday, I think my smile from my first time back sledding looked slightly more deranged. But thank you!

  5. I remember when sledding was slightly more fun (before I started worrying that someone (me) was going to break). The kids suggested I stay home if it makes me nervous to watch, but I told them I need to witness any incidents first hand! My daughter fell ice skating five years ago and that ended her 20 minute career! So glad you embraced your inner snow lover!

    1. See....ice-skating is the devil. I think you've more than proved my long-standing point. Thanks, Andrea & sorry about your daughter's promising career!

    1. It's small, Carol. Very small. But I can be fun on occasion. Usually after a cocktail.

  7. Love the picture of you and your son Marianne! So glad you "took the plunge" and decided to try out sledding!! It is fun to do and the kids get so tired from going up and down the hill; they sleep great that night (at least mine did :)

I'm with you about the ice skating; never happening here. We did it a few times with the kids and I "hugged" the walls a lot :)

    1. My BFF in grammar school had ALL her birthday parties at either ice-skating places or roller-rinks. Our friendship never made it past the 6th grade. I'm with ya!

  8. I'm just like you. I HATE everything winter related. I actually did enjoy sledding when I was little but never would do it now. Although I guess after reading your post the lesson is never say never!
